Camps are open to Incoming 1st-8th Grade Students

Theater with Ms. Janna

Come immerse yourself in all things theater! Round out your improv. Ace your audition. Students will learn audition skills, a short comedy sketch, a monologue, and a Broadway-style musical number to be performed (and filmed) on Friday at the end of the week.This camp is open to students entering These camps are open to students entering 5th-8th grade.

What your students will learn:

Morning Session: Acting and Improv

Camp Highlights:

  • “Cold reading” dramatic reader’s theater
  • Teamwork and self-expression-building improvisation games such as “Taxi” and “Yes, and!”

Afternoon Session:Musical Theater (Acting, Singing, Dancing)

  • Fundamentals of singing, dance, and acting
  • Audition skills
  • Stage presence and speaking skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Theatrical terminology
  • Self-expression
  • Verbal and nonverbal communication skills

Camp Highlights:

  • Broadway-style musical number to be performed and filmed on Friday
  • Familiarity with basic dance moves
  • Introduction to Broadway-style singing

Marine/Ocean Science Camp with Mrs. Gonzalez and Cynthia Nelly Carrion, M.S.

Over the course of five days, this ocean camp will introduce participants to fundamental ocean science (oceanography) concepts.Through hands-on exercises and inquiry, they will explore how scientists use ocean physics, chemistry, biology, and geology to understand the ocean.Monterey Bay coastal environment and local marine resources will be featured, e.g. local beaches and marine science centers.This camp is geared towards 5th through 8th grade students, however, if you would like your child to participate please sign them up and if there are available slots they will be added. * The hours for this camp will be different than the regular camp sessions.More specific information to come. Sports Camps: Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football and Volleyball with St. Francis High School

We are excited to announce that first and second sessions (morning and afternoon) will be run by St. Francis (one of the top tiered private, Catholic high schools in the state) coaches who have CCS and PCAL Division coaching experience with the help of their players.

  • First Session: June 17-21 at Good Shepherd
  • Second Session: June 24-28 at St. Francis High School in Watsonville

GS Campers of all levels will leave with a better understanding of proper techniques, improved fundamentals, increased confidence and the specific drills needed to continually improve their skills.Please have your child bring their lunch, water, snacks, sunscreen and athletic attire.This camp is open to students entering 1st through 8th grade.

Girls Lacrosse with Mrs. Junker

Join Mrs. Junker (along with Coach Maddison, Coach Jordan, and Coach Gabi) and play girls Lacrosse! Girls will learn skills through drills and fun games as well as have a scrimmage every day. Girls lacrosse is offered at Good Shepherd as an after school sport for students in 3rd-8th grade from late October-December. This will be an awesome class for girls who are interested in playing next school year or are looking to improve skills for the next season. Lacrosse stick and protective eyewear will be provided. Participants are to have their own mouth guards; these aren’t provided. Groups will be formed based on age. This camp is open to girls entering 3rd through 8th grade.

Indoor/Outdoor Games with Mrs. Junker

Indoor/outdoor games will be a fun and exciting camp of games, games, games! Outdoor games include dodgeball, capture the flag, kickball, sharks and minos, fire in the forest and more! Indoor games include board games, charades, karaoke and more! Join Mrs. Junker for lots of fun in the sun and the shade!This camp is open to students entering 2nd through 8th grade.

Slime Time and DIY’s with Mrs. Vokos

Have a blast getting messy while we create fun items to take home with you while making summer memories that will last a lifetime!This camp is open to students entering 1st through 8th grade.

Blast into Reading and Math Madness with Mrs. Vokos

You will find your love for reading and/or math in this camp that makes math and reading fun!You can pick to focus on one or work on both.Classes will challenge all levels and will include technology as well as games.This camp is open to students entering 1st through 5th grade.

Artsy Smartsy Fun in the Sun with Miss Stephanie

Imaginative, clever arts and crafts.Ending each day with silly to calm yoga/ movements. Students will enjoy a different project each day.If signing up for week 3, projects will not be duplicated from week 2.This camp is open to students entering 1st through 6th grade. See You There!

Clay Ceramics and Mixed Media with Ms. Claudia Stevens

Sculpture: Working with clay, students learn the basics of hand building: slab, pinch, coil and sculpture. Utilizing surface texture and color, students learn sound construction methods necessary for kiln firing.

Drawing and Painting:Students use a variety of materials including: pastels, color pencils, watercolor, charcoal, as well as tempera. Students learn about composition, form and light. The primary goal and focus is for each student to develop their own personal imagery and confidence in self-expression.

This camp is open to students entering 3rd through 8th grade.

Life Lab Beautification Camp with Ms. Nguyen

Students will get the opportunity to learn more about sustainability through agriculture from our school garden. Students will learn life-long skills through hands-on learning by maintaining and planting new seeds that will be harvested and used for an end of camp feast. Also students will get show off their handyman skills and rebuild the chicken coupe! The wood for rebuilding the chicken coupe will be donated from the community. There will be a licensed handyman that has volunteered to teach students safety when using equipment like hammers and nails. This summer camp will be full of fun hands-on activities.The same activates will be done for both morning and afternoon sessions with extra fun projects to keep the students engaged and having some fun in the sun!This camp is open to students entering 1st through 8th grade.

Scientific Tools and Discoveries/STEM with Mrs. Gonzalez

Students will learn how to properly use scientific tools with precision in Mrs. Gonzalez's science camp this summer. Learning how to use Graduated Cylinders and Triple Beam Balances to measure has never been so much fun! Students will conduct several labs and learn how to properly use a microscope. Come and explore!students.Mrs. Gonzalez will also be using STEM throughout the camp.STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Students will be given challenges and they will have to problem solve and work together to complete the task. STEM is a great way for students to think outside the book and apply concepts they have learned in class. This camp is open to students entering 1st grade through 8th grade.

Sports & Fun with Mrs. Gonzalez

This camp will be fun-filled week of games, sports, obstacle courses, and all sorts of fitness fun. These elements are combined to keep children engaged and entertained, while teaching them proper movement and creating a broad athletic foundation. Activities each day will include a warm up, various technique building drills, fun games, and all different sports! Your child will come home happy, tired, and ready for more the next day! It is important to pair fitness and fun while creating a lifelong love of health and fitness for our children.This camp is open students entering 1st through 8th grade.

Harry Potter Magical Engineering using LEGO Materials

Explore the magic of Harry Potter using LEGO! Find Platform 9 3/4, build Hogwarts Express Train, work cooperatively to construct the mysterious Hogwarts Castle, and challenge the Hungarian Horntail Dragon. Travel to a world of wizardry and hone your magical skills while learning about Muggle (STEM) concepts.This camp is open to students entering 1st through 5th grade.

Super Hero Engineering

Save the world with LEGO Super Heroes!Build the hideouts and vehicles of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes then not only Super Heroes, but Super Hero Engineers!An experienced Play-Well instructor guides young heroes as they design, build, and save a city where ingenuity and imagination can solve any conflict.This camp is open to students entering 1st through 4th grade.

Aerospace Engineering using LEGO Materials

Learn the secrets of flight in Aerospace FUNdamentals! Study the work of the masters, then build a LEGO® model of the largest rocket in history, and design your own Mars Rover. Explore the history of flight, from Icarus to DaVinci to the Wright Brothers to NASA. Come discover how birds, stealth fighters, blimps, and rockets all use the same FUNdamental concepts to actually fly!This camp is open to students.
